Nominations for the 2006 Positive Image Award are now open!

The Office for Children and Youth would like to encourage all schools to get their nominations for the Positive Image Award in before the Friday, 27th October deadline.

The Positive Image Award was developed to recognise secondary school students who promote a positive image of young people within their school or wider community, and is open to all secondary students currently enrolled in a school within Western Australia.

Fellow students, teachers and school community members (eg. cadet instructors, registrars, school gardeners etc.) are encouraged to nominate the school's most deserving student for this school based award.

Parents/relatives are not eligible to nominate their own child or family member, and all nominations must be made through the student's school on the Nomination Form provided by the Office for Children and Youth.

The nominated student will receive a certificate and be presented with a perpetual trophy that is provided by the Office for Children and Youth to the school.

The most outstanding young people nominated in each Education District across the State will be selected as Positive Image Award District Ambassadors and invited to attend a Special Reward Day in Perth on Friday, 1st December 2006.  This includes breakfast at Parliament House with the Minister for Youth, a visit to Scitech, a picnic lunch, followed by a latest release movie and twilight sail aboard the STS Leeuwin.

All costs of the Special Reward Day are covered by the Office for Children and Youth, as a result of the generous support provided by the Positive Image Award sponsors: Department of Education and Training, BHP Billiton - NickelWest, Catholic Education Office, Scitech Discovery Centre, Buena Vista International, Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation, Transperth and TransWA.

So download the entry form, identify the 'unsung hero' at your school and get the nomination back to us by Friday, 27th October 2008.

Good luck and we look forward to receiving your School's entry!
